Equality & Diversity

Year 6 Diversity Workshop

Year 6 participated in a wonderful workshop all about diversity. They took part in a class quiz, group discussions and then produced poems in their groups as well as on their own about diversity, including all the key information they had learnt during the session.

Diversity Training

We would like to thank Mr Peter Yip for delivering training to staff and governors on Equality and Diversity in school this afternoon.

Book Club

Through out the year our Key Stage 2 book clubs read a wide range of diverse books.

Year 3/4 Race

Year 3/4 looked at different races. We based our discussions around issues brought up in the book 'Hey You! An Empowering Celebration Of Growing Up Black' by Dapo Adeola.

We also looked at the book 'All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold and Suzanne Kaufman' before going on to produce our own All Are Welcome globe pictures.

We continued to read and discuss books with characters of different races through out the week.

Families.

Year 3/4 learnt about the different and diverse families in society.

We read stories that showed a range of family relations and debated the language used to describe some of the characters who appeared in these books. We also discussed what we would do to help people in different situations and how we should all be proud of who we are and the families we come from.
