Welcome

Welcome to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Primary School

I would like to extend a warm welcome to you. Thank you for visiting our website, which I hope provides a window into our 'Small school with a big heart'. I joined Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Primary School as a teacher in 2006 and it very quickly took a piece of my heart. It's lovely to see the next generation of our families at the beginning of their journey and a pleasure to see them grow. We are a very nurturing, family orientated one form entry Catholic primary school in Litherland and we serve an amazing community of families. We form extremely strong partnerships with parents to ensure each child and family flourishes.

'Through Christ we live, love and learn'

I am immensely proud and privileged to be the Headteacher at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Primary School and to work with our parish, dedicated staff, Governors and parents to provide a broad and balanced curriculum that is full of learning opportunities. We believe that children learn best when they feel safe and we work hard to create a learning environment where everyone is happy, well-motivated and physically and mentally healthy. Safeguarding our children is our highest priority. Our school and parish is built on mutual respect and our fundamental belief is that each child is unique and made in the image of God.

The Gospel values and Catholic virtues of responsibility, respect, inclusion, resilience, a love of learning and teamwork are the golden thread that runs through all of our teaching and all of our relationships. Our curriculum is designed to raise aspirations and help children to be literate and articulate by the time they finish Year 6. Developing children's vocabulary is paramount and being an Oracy 21 school, extending vocabulary and giving children the opportunity to talk for different audiences and for different purposes is an integral part of our curriculum. Reading is also a huge priority for us as we know that learning to read fluently and developing a love of reading opens up the curriculum, the world around us and improves our children's life chances in the long term. A wide range of sporting, creative and academic enrichment opportunities are offered so that every child is valued and can develop their God given talents. There is also the opportunity for our children to graduate with 'Children's University'. We work with families to support every child's personal development and to grow spiritually, emotionally and physically.

We know that choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent and would encourage    you to come for a visit and meet our wonderful and friendly team.
