‘You Crayon for Ukraine’
We are sure that you have all been very upset and worried about the situation in Ukraine. We have all seen the heart breaking coverage on the television and heard about the desperation of so many innocent people. Some of our children have expressed their concern over the situation and we have been praying together asking for peace. As a school, we want to find a way of raising vital funds to help the people who need it most.
We are going to have a class colouring competition ‘Crayon for Ukraine’. It will cost £2 to enter and all the money will go to support those in the Ukraine. Please bring your completed colouring picture in by Friday 18th March with your £2 entry (or more if you wish). Each class will choose their winner by the end of the school day.
We also think it would be a great sign of our support for Ukraine if we wear the colours of their flag - BLUE and/or YELLOW, also on Friday 18th March.
We thank you for your support in all our efforts to help those in need.
With world events surrounding the Ukraine and Russian conflict, children and young people may be hearing words like ‘bombing’, ‘invasion’ and ‘World War Three’ in posts on Instagram, TikTok and other social media sites, as well as on the news or overhearing adult conversations. Children on social media may be seeing a range of posts; some factual, some memes, some scaremongering, and may be worried or confused about what is happening and the impact this may have on them.
There is some good advice on supporting your child if they see or hear upsetting news at the following websites:
BBC Newsround have created a roundup for young people about the situation in Ukraine, which can be a good way to start a conversation with your child if they are seeing content online BBC Newsround
If children are upset by what's going on in the news at the moment they can read this guide.
Children's Mental Health Week is taking place on 7th -13th February 2022. This year's theme is “Growing Together”. Growing Together is about growing emotionally and finding ways to help each other grow. Challenges and setbacks can help us to grow and adapt, and trying new things can help us to move beyond our comfort zone into a new realm of possibility and potential. However, emotional growth is often a gradual process that happens over time, and sometimes we might feel a bit ‘stuck’.
It is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on children and young people's mental health. By getting involved, you'll not only be raising important awareness, but also vital funds to ensure every child has easy access to mental health support.
On Friday 11th February, we would like to invite all children to
‘Dress to Express’.
This could be through favourite colours, hairstyles, favourite sports kits, party clothes…whatever your child wants to wear as an expression of themselves - be as creative as they like for a £1 donation.
THANK YOU
P.E. days may have changed for your child's class. Here is the list for this term. Children are required to have full and correct P.E. kit for lessons. If they have our officially approved track suit from Paul's Place, they may come to school dressed in this (over PE kit) on their P.E. days. Please note, own clothes or football kits are not allowed for P.E. lessons.
Thank you.

School reopens on Wednesday 5th January after the Christmas holiday.
With the number of Covid cases currently very high, we would like to remind parents to make sure children do not have symptoms before returning to school.
The most recent variant includes the following symptoms:
High temperature (shivers/sweating)
Sore throat / cough
Loss of or change to taste and smell
Headache
Sneezing / runny nose / blocked nose
Rash
Feeling like a common cold
The current guidance can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/covid-19-coronavirus-restrictions-what-you-can-and-cannot-do
Please refer to the useful charts below for clear advice on when to test, isolate and how long for. We need to keep doing all we can to keep our children and staff safe. Thank you.
Unfortunately, following the advice from Sefton's Public Health Team that we should not have assemblies due to the recent increase in confirmed cases of Coronavirus, will not be doing any Christmas plays this year. We do hope that things will be very different next year.
Please note the following P.E. days for each class. Children may come to school wearing the new school tracksuit on their P.E. day.
