Nursery and Reception had a lovely first day back with new and old friends.
Today Nursery used mirrors to pull faces showing different emotions. We then identified different parts of our faces before singing, Heads Shoulders Knees and Toes.
In Foundation today, we celebrated International Dot Day. An annual celebration of creativity, courage, and collaboration, inspired by the book The Dot by Peter H Reynolds.
We created some lovely dot inspired prints.
Roald Dahl Day
Children had lots of fun celebrating Roald Dahl day. We wore green to celebrate and listened to the story, ‘The Enormous Crocodile.’
Making Faces
Foundation children used different materials to make faces today.
Children have enjoyed exploring our topic on hedgehogs and learning all about them. They had great fun making cosy dens for the hedgehogs to hibernate in. The children also used clay to create their own hedgehog models. We have learnt lots of interesting facts about what hedgehogs eat, how they grow, and how they stay safe. 🦔
During daily prayer and liturgy, children thought about times they have shown bravery. Sometimes courage is needed for life’s big challenges, and other times it is required in simple everyday situations, such as tackling a new maths problem or speaking out in class. We reflected on these moments, trusting in God and having faith that he will always help and guide us on our journey through life, giving us the courage to face both big and small challenges. We also explored Remembrance Day through a variety of sensory and art activities, engaging with different materials to help us to understand and remember the importance of the day, linking creativity with reflection on bravery, respect, and the courage of others.
