Year 6

We are really excited to start the New Year as we know that the year ahead holds lots of fun, laughter and learning! Below is some important information about life in Year 6:

Homework📚

Year 6 will be set their homework on Fridays and will need to be completed by the following Thursday. Each week the children will have a maths, spelling and grammar task.

Secret Student

Each day a secret student is chosen and has to model excellent behaviour. At the end of the day, we ask each pupil in our class to say who they think it is.

Dojo winner

Dojo points are given to the children if they have displayed excellent effort and behaviour.

Autumn Term

This term in Literacy, we will be reading 'The Island' by Armin Greder. The text will provide opportunities for pupils to explore themes of belonging, prejudice, exclusion and acceptance through a range of writing opportunities. In History, we will explore what census records can tell us about local areas and investigate a range of historical sources to develop our understanding of life during the Victorian era.  In Science, we will explore Living Things and Their Habitats, using classification keys to identify, group and classify a range of living organisms. We will also be exploring the topic of ‘Electricity’ and learn about different circuits. In our Geography module, we will be investigating why the population changes. PE this term will be swimming and will take place every week on Tuesday.
