  • UPDATE ON SCHOOL RE-OPENING

    Fri 29 May 2020

    Dear Parents / Carers,

Following on from the latest Government announcement that schools can re-open from 1st June, we would like to remind and reassure parents that our local authority have agreed that Sefton schools can re-open from 15th June at the earliest to children from Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6.

Staff will spend the next couple of weeks getting classrooms and the school grounds ready for these year groups, and very soon we will be posting a film / photographs of the changes that have had to be made.  Hopefully this will help reassure parents of the steps we will be taking to ensure the safety of our children and staff, plus show the children before they arrive so it's not strange to them.

We will inform you of the plans as soon as they are finalised.  In the meantime, stay safe and we hope to see you all soon.  Thank you.

  • Return To School Assessment June 2020

    Thu 14 May 2020

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Following the government's announcement that schools can begin to reopen to more pupils from 1st June, and that "Schools should only invite those pupils back when and if their assessment of the risk is that it is safe for both children and staff to do so", our Senior Leadership team and governors will need to undertake a full risk assessment before making any decisions. This assessment will need to be kept under review, and as part of this process it is particularly important to ascertain an understanding as to what the response might be to an invitation for your child to return to school.

School will not be "back to normal" straight away. Social distancing measures will be in place and we expect staff, pupils and parents to follow these measures as best as they can. It is likely that drop off and collection times will be staggered, attendance may be half days initially, or even alternate weeks depending on numbers.

The first step has been taken - to text parents of children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, to gauge interest if you would want your child to attend school should we re-open from 1st June. We ask that you let us know by the end of Friday 15th May by ringing 01519283676 or email the school office: admin@ourladyqueenofpeaceprimary.co.uk

Parents will not be fined for non-attendance at this time, nor will school be held to account for attendance levels, but it will be important that you decide one way or another as the re-opening will take a lot of organising and it will be difficult to accommodate people dropping in and out.

We thank you for your understanding, co-operation, kindness and support during the last seven weeks and we will be in regular contact with you as the planning progresses.

    Thank you.

Through Christ, we live, love and learn
