  • Ukraine Crisis - Talking to Your Child

    Mon 28 Feb 2022

With world events surrounding the Ukraine and Russian conflict, children and young people may be hearing words like ‘bombing’, ‘invasion’ and ‘World War Three’ in posts on Instagram, TikTok and other social media sites, as well as on the news or overhearing adult conversations.  Children on social media may be seeing a range of posts; some factual, some memes, some scaremongering, and may be worried or confused about what is happening and the impact this may have on them.

There is some good advice on supporting your child if they see or hear upsetting news at the following websites:

    Childnet

    Metro News

BBC Newsround have created a roundup for young people about the situation in Ukraine, which can be a good way to start a conversation with your child if they are seeing content online BBC Newsround

If children are upset by what's going on in the news at the moment they can  read this guide.

  • Mental Health Week

    Mon 07 Feb 2022

Children's Mental Health Week is taking place on 7th -13th February 2022. This year's theme is “Growing Together”. Growing Together is about growing emotionally and finding ways to help each other grow. Challenges and setbacks can help us to grow and adapt, and trying new things can help us to move beyond our comfort zone into a new realm of possibility and potential. However, emotional growth is often a gradual process that happens over time, and sometimes we might feel a bit ‘stuck’.

It is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on children and young people's mental health. By getting involved, you'll not only be raising important awareness, but also vital funds to ensure every child has easy access to mental health support.

On Friday 11th February, we would like to invite all children to

    ‘Dress to Express’.

This could be through favourite colours, hairstyles, favourite sports kits, party clothes…whatever your child wants to wear as an expression of themselves - be as creative as they like for a £1 donation.

    THANK YOU
