  • School Attendance

    Fri 15 Nov 2019

This week's attendance is quite poor, with only one class improving from last week.

Our target is 96% and only with parent's cooperation can we hope to achieve this.

Each term, any child with at least 96% will be rewarded with a school trip.  Is your child still "On the Bus"?

  • Roald Dahl's Marvellous Childrens' Charity

    Mon 04 Nov 2019

Our children had a great time celebrating Roald Dahl Day.  We would like to thank you all for your wonderful support with providing costumes and pocket money for buying cakes.  We've received a lovely certificate of thanks from the charity for the £92.00 pounds raised on the day.  Marvellous.

  • Help Us Raise Money for Starlight

    Tue 08 Oct 2019

Starlight is a charity dear to our hearts, brightening the lives of seriously and terminally ill children.  Each term, we ask for donations of good quality second hand clothing, including coats, paired shoes, underwear, bags and belts, to be placed in any carrier bag.  School receives 30p per kilo and Starlight receives £100 per tonne.  They cannot accept uniforms, bedding or household textiles.

The next collection will be on Tuesday 22nd October, so please feel free to pass your full bags into school any time before this date.  We thank you for your wonderful support.

You can find out more about the charity here:  https://www.starlight.org.uk/

  • TT ROCK STARS

    Mon 07 Oct 2019

Today, Key Stage 2 celebrated the launch of TT Rock Stars in style - by becoming rock stars for the day!

The children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 have begun their daily multiplication tables practise using the i-pads in school, but will also be able to access the programme at home with the login details provided.

The TT Rock Stars programme has been a great success, fully boosting times tables recall speed for hundreds of thousands of pupils in over 14,000 schools - both primary and secondary - in a fun and exciting way!

  • 100% Attendance

    Wed 24 Jul 2019

The children who achieved 100% attendance this year were treated to a day in Southport: Bowling, Laser Tag, a meal, the park and an ice cream!

Here they are receiving their certificates on the very last day of term. Well done everyone!

  • Roald Dahl Day

    Thu 18 Jul 2019

On Friday 13th September the whole school will celebrate Roald Dahl Day!  Nursery, Reception and Key Stage 1 children are invited to come to school dressed up as their favourite Roald Dahl character.

Please join us by reading lots of Roald Dahl books during the summer holidays, as we’ll be doing activities in class on our return!   We have sent out “Book Review” sheets with the children to complete at home.

We will also be having a cake sale to raise money for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.

Any cake donations will be gratefully received.

  • New Morning Routine for Reception Class

    Thu 04 Jul 2019

As Reception Class will be moving up to Year 1 in September, and because Year 1 children usually line up on the infant yard each morning before school, we are hoping to start practicing during the last couple weeks of the term, so that the children are used to doing this in time for the start of the new school year - Thursday 5th September 2019.

From Monday 8th July, we are asking parents of Reception children to kiss their children goodbye at the side gate (no parents are allowed through this gate) and send them through to the infant yard, making sure they have their books, bags, kits and anything else they may need for the school day.  A member of Foundation staff will be there to meet the children from 8:45am.

Security and safeguarding of our children are of the highest priority and, for this reason; parents are not permitted to go on either of our school yards.

If you wish to speak to your child’s class teacher, please call into the office and we will make an appointment for you.  We will pass on any urgent messages straight away.  On mornings of bad weather, the children should still enter through the side gate and go into the hall, again not before 8:45am.

Please bear with us while we trial this new routine as it will take time for us all to get used to change.  This is all in the interests of the welfare and safety of our children and parents.

We thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

  • Uniform Purchases

    Tue 18 Jun 2019

    Our Uniform

With some parents already planning to buy uniform for September, we would like to draw your attention to the following information.

A number of children are continuing to come to school without the correct uniform, despite reminders from staff and during whole school assemblies.  Parents may not be aware that items such as trainers (or shoes that look like trainers), fashion boots, bright coloured or patterned socks, and jewellery of any kind are not allowed.

We have a uniform to be fair to all children and to make them look smart.  Any child not in the correct uniform really does make them stand out, especially during assemblies, educational visits, or when we have special visitors in school.  We like to make a good impression and it also reflects on the children’s behaviour in school.

Usually, if any child comes into school wearing trainers, they will be asked to wear their PE pumps.  Any jewellery/earrings will have to be removed.

We also ask that the correct PE kit is in school at all times (even more important with the forthcoming Sports Days!):

    • Plain white t-shirt with school logo
    • Plain navy shorts
    • Black slip on pumps

Paul’s Place in Bootle Strand provide our embroidered knitted jumpers and cardigans, along with the other usual school uniform items – trousers, skirts, white shirts and PE / book bags.

School Trends online uniform store also provides our correct uniform which can be delivered to your home address: https://www.schooltrends.co.uk/uniform/OurLadyQueenofPeaceCatholicPrimaryL210EP

Please take note of the correct uniform before shopping for items during the summer break.  Do your very best to help your child set a good example to others, and to wear their correct school uniform with pride.

We thank you for your support and co-operation in this matter.

  • Attendance - Week Ending 14/06/2019

    Fri 14 Jun 2019
Our attendance has fallen this wek to a very disappointing 92%.  Only two classes improved from last week.  There are still many pupils having odd days of absence during the week, and this not only impacts on their learning, but also their whole class attendance.  Children who are in every day, who are never late or taken out of school for appointments, are entered into a draw to win a prize each week.
