  • Strike Action Notification

    Tue 21 Feb 2023

The next date for the NEU members to take industrial strike action is Tuesday 28th February.  Classes that will be closed on this day are:

    • Year 1
    • Year 2
    • Year 3

Children from the unaffected classes should attend as normal.

Children absent due to the closure of their class will receive an attendance mark ‘Y’ – Unable to attend due to exceptional circumstances.  This code does not count towards your child’s attendance records.

Children on Sefton’s Free School Meal Register will receive a supermarket voucher via email/text the day before the strike.  We will give you prior notice before each strike action and update you with any changes as soon as possible.

    Thank you

  • Class Closure due to Industrial Action

    Wed 25 Jan 2023

    Notification of Industrial Action

As you may be aware from the recent media coverage, National Education Union (NEU) have balloted their members with regards to taking industrial action over concerns relating to pay.

The planned strike dates that may affect all schools are as follows:

    • 1st February 2023
    • 28th February 2023
    • 15th & 16th March 2023

Since 2010, there has been a pay freeze. This year there was a below inflation pay increase which was not paid by the government but had to be paid from school budgets. Lots of schools currently are looking at a deficit budget (minus budget), which means possible redundancies and less staff to support our children.

The strike action is not against our school but is part of a national industrial action organised by NEU. There are other unions that are still in the process of organising a possible strike action, so at the moment it only affects those classes where staff are NEU members.

Classes that will be closed on February 1st and possibly the above dates are:

    • Year 1
    • Year 2
    • Year 3

Children absent due to the closure of their class will receive an attendance mark ‘Y’ – Unable to attend due to exceptional circumstances.  This code does not count towards your child’s attendance records.  Children from the unaffected classes should attend as normal.

Children on Sefton’s Free School Meal Register will receive a supermarket voucher via email/text the day before the strike.  We will give you prior notice before each strike action and update you with any changes as soon as possible.

Thank you for your support and understanding in this matter.  If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

    Mon 14 Nov 2022

International Men’s Day is an important opportunity to raise awareness of the mental health issues that can affect men differently and disproportionately and empower them to start a conversation about their mental health.  For this reason, we will be holding a "Wear Something Blue" day on Monday 21st November when children can come to school wearing something bright blue in addition to their normal navy uniform.
